Mote Aquarium

This eel has lived at the aquatium for 18 years. His eyes are now discolored because of all the pictures that have been taken of him.

I have no idea what kind of fish this is. Ethan called it a crazy fish.

In front of the shark display

The touch tank with crab & starfish

The sea turtle exhibit

Mia almost fell asleep on the boat ride

Ethan eager to see what we caught in our nets

In awe of everything

Sweaty & steamy but still having fun!

On Tuesday we went to Mote Aquarium for most of the day. Since we have a membership to our zoo we were able to get in free:) The aquarium was small but really neat. It is geared more towards research and didn't have the commercial aspect you can get at other aquariums. They even have an dolphin & whale hospital. There were many hands on exhibits and we were able to touch crabs, stingrays and see MANY MANY fish. We also took an eco tour ride of Sarasota Bay. On the boat we saw dolphins and manatees and were able to throw a trawl net out. We caught some fish, sponges, crabs and a sea horse. Ethan again was in awe of the whole experience. The day was pretty steamy but we all had a great time! I think Ethan might have a job here in the future:)

Man, you guys are always doing something fun! Can I join your family? ;) I love how Ethan "matches" the aquarium. I am so gullible. I actually believed that the fish's eyes were discolored because of picture taking. Only for a second though!
