Today Mia is 8 months old. It is bittersweet, we would love to have her home with us but we know that she is being well taken care of by a loving foster mom in Guatemala. Today also begins the countdown to Steve's trip. In one week we will be frantically packing and gathering things up. We have already started so I hope there isn't too much last minute confusion.

Disney on Ice...Oh So Nice!!
Programs ...$15.00, Nemo flashlight $22.00, Cotton Candy $10.00, the joy of watching Ethan's face light up as he watched Nemo skate across the ice...PRICELESS!! Yes the Disney in Ice show was a big hit with Ethan. He sat on our laps and was memorized by the costumes and the skating. Of course his favorite scene was Nemo, but Mulan came in second. We were in sticker shock when we got there at the price of the souvenirs. It was a bit pricey. Pa wanted some cotton candy so he did shell out $10.00 for it. Oh but look it came with a cool shark hat. The price of having a sugar high and a Disney on Ice hat ... priceless.

9 Weeks total in PGN
Mia's adoption update for the week is that we are in PGN. We knew that this would be the case since we were just resubmitted last week. This makes a total of 9 weeks in PGN (9 weeks too long!!) Mia's adoption is so different from Ethan's. It has gone much slower than we ever thought it would. Ethan's process took 3 months from the time we accepted his referral to the time he came home. Mia's is reaching 8 months. We try to stay positive and take it one day at a time. Having Ethan home reminds us that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Our other exciting new of the week is that Amy is taking Ethan to see Disney on Ice tonight. We will let you know how that goes. Also Steve is getting ready for his solo trip to visit Mia March 5-9. Amy is going to work for him so he doesn't have to take any vacation time. We also received an email for Mia's foster Mom. She said that Mia is doing very well and is starting to become mobile (watch out!). Steve is looking forward to the trip and the time he will get with her. We just want her home soon!

Happy Fat Tuesday!
Fried dough around the world. While Guatemala's fried dough comes in the form of a sopailla or churro, we celebrate the Polish fried dough today- the Paczki. (pronounced punch-key) Paczki Day is the feast of plenty before the Lenten fast begins. On this day the traditional deep fired pastries (something like jelly doughnuts) are enjoyed throughout the world. Although they aren't a very healthy food (each paczki typically is 500+ calories and has 17+ grams of fat) we hope everyone enjoyed at least one of these treats today! This is Ethan at 5 months old right after he came home. We thought he had a paczki in each cheek!

Meet Mia
This is Mia. She is currently is foster care in Guatemala. She was born on June 25, 2006. Right now we are in PGN and hope to be out around Easter. (We wouldn't complain if things went faster than we expect, but nothing has gone fast with her adoption) These pictures we taken during Amy's visit with her Jan 29- Feb 2. She had just turned 7 months old.
Meet Ethan
Let us introduce you to our family. This is Ethan. He was born on May 30, 2004 in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. We first learned about him on August 9, 2004 and he became a part of our family forever November 2, 2004. His current interests are Thomas the Tank Engine, cars, and pirates. He currently is looking forward to becoming a big brother as we complete the adoption of his sister. (Who is also from Guatemala)

Hurray! We finally created a blog so we can keep everyone informed on what's going on with us. Once we figure this out we will put some pictures on it. But be patient that may take some time!
