Ivy turned 4 this past weekend and held her party at our local pumpkin farm. I think it was hotter than our day at the zoo! Some of the pumpkins were even getting soft. Ethan loves the pumpkin farm and Mia was just fascinated by it too. Ethan really likes the story Five Little Pumpkins. At the end of the story the five little pumpkins roll out of sight. Ethan recreated this scene by rolling the smaller pumpkins all around the farm. Mia just like drumming on the tops of the big pumpkins. With the weather so hot we didn't stay long as every one was getting quite toasty. Hopefully it will cool off so we can go back and play in the straw without having it stick to our legs!

We found a hippity hop ball that was just Ethan's size this past weekend. It took him no time to figure out how to bounce on it. He could get some serious hang time! Now he is thinking about asking Santa for a trampoline!

Cotton candy is normally a treat we get at the zoo. Ethan just loves it! (But then again what child doesn't enjoy pure sugar???) Sammy had never had it before and didn't know what to make of it. He was quite the dainty eater. Then he saw Ethan attack it and decided that's the way it must be done. The boys loved the fact that their tongues turned blue and loved showing them off. All we could say was...boys will be boys!

Two Guate-Daddies!

When we planned on going to the zoo with the Nickols family in the fall, we never imagined that we would be sweating and on the verge of heat exhaustion. It was odd and just not right walking around the zoo sweating that much with the trees beginning to change color. Despite the heat we all had a GREAT time! Sammy had never been to a zoo before so it was fun to watch his reaction when he saw the different animals. We think the biggest winners with Sammy were the polar bears, merry go round, and the hippos. In the spring we hope to go back again, but hope the weather is more tolerable!

Put One Foot in Front of the Other

Well it finally happened! Mia put one foot in front of the other and soon she was walking across the floor. She started taking her first steps around September 11, but over the past week she has really taken off. We don't know how it's possible but she's into more things than ever! She just likes to keep us on our toes:)

We got these outfits from Scott's Mom & Dad finally got pictures of the kids in them. We mean to post this last week but never got around to it. (Maybe it would have brought them better luck:) So anyways here Ethan & Mia are cheering on Auntie Sarah & Uncle Scott's team.

Ethan conducted his first concert today with his one person band. He was so funny moving his conducting baton all around. Surprisingly he really did have some sense of what he was doing. We need to get Auntie Sarah to give him a few pointers though ( or maybe he can give her a few:) At the end of the concert he got a standing ovation. "Encore, encore," Daddy said!

Grandma Thelma's Dress

Last Christmas Steve's Grandma Thelma had given us this dress that she made herself many years ago. The dress was put away until great granddaughters came along. Finally we were able to put it on Mia for her to model. We think there is such an innocence about her in this dress...maybe it's all the smocking....or maybe it's because Grandma Thelma made it....whatever it is she looks like such an angel. Thanks Grandma Thelma......we wish all of her clothes made her look and act this precious.

Saturday Steve took Ethan fishing for the first time. (We should note that they fed fish rather than catch any:) We were nervous about how Ethan would do, but he LOVED it. Steve is excited that he has a new little fishing partner. His new partner will even touch the worms with no complaints!!! Even though they didn't get the catch of the day, Ethan got some Daddy time. Where was Momma & Mia......of course having Mommy time shopping:)

Friday night we normally get together with the Wilt & Wilson families. This week thy came over to our house. We had dinner then attempted to do cut out Halloween cookies. The cookies we used were precut and all the kids had to do was remove the excess dough. This is what happened when 3 almost 3 year olds attempted to do this. The cookies were supposed to be bones, cats and pumpkins. Oh well.....they still tasted good. Katherine & Ethan couldn't keep the raw cookie dough out of their mouths. They were the "quality control" department:)
